Shell is a British-Dutch oil and gas major with operations spanning the entire energy value chain: exploring for and producing crude oil and natural gas, refining it into fuels and chemicals, and trading and marketing the output worldwide. It is also one of the largest traders of liquefied natural gas, a business that has grown in importance as countries diversify away from pipeline gas. Alongside its traditional fossil fuel operations, Shell has been investing in lower-carbon businesses like biofuels, hydrogen and electric vehicle charging, though oil and gas still generate the bulk of its profit. As an integrated major, Shell's earnings are more diversified than pure exploration and production companies, but still move with global energy prices.
